Tornedalen

“Tornedalen” offers experiences for the seasoned adventurer as well as the curious beginner who seeks experiences for themselves or their families.
The unique water complex with its untouched rivers, thousands of lake, and vast amounts of watercourses is the base of our lifestyle and our heritage. Here moose, bear, lynx and reindeer still roam in their natural habitat and wild salmon, grayling and trout swim the waters.

The summer season holds Swedish high summers with its long bright days not to mention nights…and mosquitoes…
The mosquitoes in tune with the bright part of the year brings nourishment to large parts of the animal fauna in “Tornedalen” besides giving the area its special, often exaggerated reputation and odd environment.
The summer season with fishing, canoeing, rafting or traditional river boating combined with lodging in a cultural environment and access to experienced guides is the very foundation on which this adventure lies.

To travel in the wintertime along frozen rivers or over vast wetlands on snowmobile or by dog sledge where the silence and purity are your constant followers, brings you a sense of how the simple man once lived in prehistoric times.
The sami´s with their reindeers still live in the region and can share with us their lives as nomads.
A way to live, coexist with nature and maybe grasp a part of what has become the “Tornedalish” adventure.
